Avaniel is a young red wine produced from grapes that the Monteabellón bodega obtains from one of their younger plots called "Los Miles" The vines are around 6 to 10 years old. These conditions makes Avaniel a very fresh wine with lots of tasty fruity notes.
This wine is a "semi crianza", meaning it is aged, but for less time than a crianza, so it has some of the complexities of an aged wine while retaining lots of youthful fruity characteristics, making it extremely versatile.

From the Aragonese town of Carinena, which gave its name to the grape (also known as Mazuelo). The soils are calcareous and stony and the vines ripen under a Mediterranean sun. In the bodega, pre and post fermentation maceration and malo-lactic are carried out in stainless steel tanks before the wine goes to barrel for ageing.
From among the highest vineyards of Ribera del Duero at an altitude of some 900 metres. The vines have to work hard and this provides good concentrated fruit, especially as the vines are over 60 years old, which gives great quality but low yields. This is both an interesting and excellent value wine. It is made by the “apassimento” process involving the addition of partially dried grapes to the fermentation giving extra body, texture and complexity.

Named after a famous Spanish victory over Napoleón in 1808, this is an excellent example of Oloroso. The word means "fragrant" and it certainly is. Flor yeasts do not appear on Oloroso wines so they are fortified straight away and aged oxidatively from the start. This imparts a warm Brown color and generous bouquet to the wine.
