Amaren, "wine mother" was born with the harvest of 1.995 as a tribute to the mother of the winemaker Juan Luis Cañas. AMAREN, which in Basque means "mother", was the first wine conceived, produced and marketed to be among the most outstanding wines. The mother of Juan Luis, Angeles, was until her death a tireless worker. She devoted her life to farm work and the winery with her husband Luis Cañas, founder of the Rioja wineries Juan Canas, and its strong and friendly character can be found in each of the wines from Luis Cañas.
In 2009, Juan Luis Cañas saw his dream come true, and not only devoted a wine but a whole cellar to his mother. Bodegas Amaren was born. That same year two new wines were born, both maintaining the family links, philosophy and love for the vineyard: the signature wines Amaren Angeles and a White made from old vines and Barrel Fermented.
Amaren is the pursuit of perfection in all fields: the vineyard, grape selection, processing and ageing to produce wines that excite discerning palates.

Bodegas Amaren only produce their wines in limited quantities. The grapes for this white wine are grown near the top of the vines. These small clusters make perfect ripening possible with a high concentration of nuances. A wine with great aromatic intensity and elegance on its own, then enhanced further with oak.
This winery is owned by Juan Luis Cañas and is a homage to Angeles, his bellowed mother, who unfortunately passed away almost 20 years ago. She was a hardworking woman and inseparable from her husband and the Vinery of Luis Cañas.
