Made mainly with Tempranillo grapes and aged for 20 months in new American oak barrels, and another 24 months rounding off in the bottle. Aromas of its noble ageing springs to the nose, combines with traces of coconut, toffee and ripe fruit. In the mouth its soft with supple volume. An extremely fulfilling and enjoyable wine.
The Graciano grape, acclaimed and rare, was always an important component in the classic Rioja wine. Barón de Ley have planted 50 hectares of this grape in the Los Almendros vineyard, 460 m. above sea level. The shades of violet in its colour , fresh nose, subtle tannins, good acidity and strong character make this a unique wine.
Rioja Vega Reserva is made from the classic blend of Tempranillo (85%), Mazuelo (5%) and Graciano (10%). The fruits comes from the traditional 70ha. vineyards that the firm owns in Rioja. Its calcareous clay soils provide optimum drainage and excellent water retention. The wine was aged in both barrel and bottle to refine it before sale.

Finca El Estanque is a vineyard of more than 60 hectares. There, we have selected three small plots where vines more than 35 years old survive in clay-limestone soil of exceptional quality for grape growing. There, the grapes ripen slowly and evenly, with a perfect balance between acidity, sugar content and phenolic ripeness

This winery is owned by Juan Luis Cañas and is a homage to Angeles, his bellowed mother, who unfortunately passed away almost 20 years ago. She was a hardworking woman and inseparable from her husband and the Vinery of Luis Cañas.
