This delicious red comes from the easternmost part of the Rioja, Rioja Baja. The climate here is a Little warmer, more Mediterranean and the soils are calcareous with alluvial deposits of rouned stones and gravel. This provides good drainage and good ripening. The wine is vinified in the traditional manner before barrel and bottle ageing.

Bodegas Luis Canas make this Rioja from vines over 60 years old and limit the yield to only three bunches (racimos) per vine. The grapes are hand picked, thoroughly sorted and then fermented in French oak vats.
