CEO Birdie Vinos
This wine was produced for the first time in 1994 with the intention of producing something special, different from the traditional Reserva wine.
And that was certainly accomplished; The wine is completely different from the others under the same classification. It's more intense in colour, with explosive aromas and powerful entry.
The grapes used for the Reserva de la Familia are selected from old vines, those which combine a series of characteristics such as good orientation and exposure to the sun, and a poor soil which ensures low yields, assuring a maximum quality grape. It is a modern approach to tradition, a typical Reserva but with a firm, full-bodied blast of ripe fruit.

85% Tempranillo, 15% Other experimental grapes. Age of vines: over 45 years.
20 months in new casks. Type of oak: 50% French 50% American. Made from a selection of old vines grown in soil which is not very fertile which ensures a low yield of clusters (between 4500 and 5500 Kg. per hectare).
Deep black cherry red with ruby rim. Clean and bright.
What a nose, what a lovely smell...Intensely aromatic with a predominance of ripe, mature red fruit. Sweet and spicy with lactic nuances and a somewhat balsamic background.
This wine is very full bodied on entry. It is powerful and fleshy, elegant and expressive while remaining subtle. It really goes down well and is extremely deep and rich. Bursting with flavour with well integrated rounded tannins, making it serious but easy to drink.
