From among the highest vineyards of Ribera del Duero at an altitude of some 900 metres. The vines have to work hard and this provides good concentrated fruit, especially as the vines are over 60 years old, which gives great quality but low yields. The grapes are fermented separately in stainless steel before being blended together and ageing in barrels.

Tasting notes

95% Tinto Fino (Tempranillo) and 5% Merlot

6 months in 225 litre American oak barrels and 6 months in bottle

Intense black cherry red with hints of purple at the rim

Lots of ripe strawberry and blackcurrant fruit with traces of vanilla and coffee

Fresh, full bodied and very fruity with gentle, well-integrated toasted flavours from the oak
