David Moreno is a family winery that has always put quality first. We (Birdie Vinos) have worked with this family and sold their wines for more than 25 years, and every year we are positively surprised by the quality of their wines. and their value for money.
This wine cellar tradition dates from 1912 when Ponciano Moreno set up the original bodega with a capacity of 18,000 litres. In 1963, the whole family moved to Barcelona in search of a better life. At the end of 1981 David Moreno, aged 33, decided to leave his job as an engineer at SEAT and put his grandfather and father’s knowledge into practice. When he started this stage, he was helped by relatives and friends who lent him their small cellars without any financial interest involved, so that he could fulfill his dream as a wine producer.
In 1988, he decided to build the current bodega with a capacity of 1,800,000 litres. Bodegas David Moreno is situated in Badarán, a small village in the west of La Rioja and produces the wines bearing his name “David Moreno” and also “Vobiscum” made with special grapes from the low yielding very old vineyards. This is excellent artisan Rioja.
This 100% viura wine comes from old vines Badarán and Cárdenas, in the valley of San Millán (where the use of Castilian Spanish was first recorded). It is a well structured, balanced and fresh wine, the perfect accompaniment to good seafood!
This delicious Rioja rosado is made by an unusual process. Rather than being made with only red grapes, it is made by blending both red and white grapes. This gives the wine considerable elegance.
This wine is a "semi crianza", meaning it is aged, but for less time than a crianza, so it has some of the complexities of an aged wine while retaining lots of youthful fruity characteristics, making it extremely versatile.
